엠마누엘 사누 Emmanuel Sanou
서아프리카 부르키나파소 국적 댄서이자 무용단체 ‘쿨레칸’의 안무가. 안무가 살리아 사누, 제르멘 아코니, 이렌 타삼베도 등으로부터 전통 춤 및 현대무용을 수련했다. 2007년 네덜란드-말리 국제적 오페라 프로젝트 <사헬 오페라(Opera du Sahel)>의 무용수 발탁을 계기로 이후 말리, 프랑스, 포르투갈, 모나코 등에서 활동했다. 2012년부터 한국에 정착하면서 무용단체 ‘쿨레칸’을 한국에서 만들고, 댄스 스튜디오 봉쿠라지(Space Bon Courage)를 열고 워크숍 ‘쿨레칸 스쿨’ 등을 운영하고 있다.

춤은 몸의 대화이자 하나의 언어로서, 국경과 문화, 인종과 장애 등 다양한 장벽을 넘어 서로를 환대할 수 있는 문화를 춤을 통해 전달하고 있다.전통을 기반으로 동시대를 살아가는 사람들이 함께 소통할 수 있는 움직임들을 포착하고 다양한 형태의 프로젝트를 통해 발표해내고 있다. 춤은 몸의 대화이자 하나의 언어로서, 국경과 문화, 인종과 장애 등 다양한 장벽을 넘어 서로를 환대할 수 있는 문화를 춤을 통해 전달하고자 한다.

Emmanuel Sanou is a choreographer and dancer from Burkina Faso whose work draws from West African ritual movement, contemporary dance, and improvisational composition. Trained by artists including Salia Sanou and Germaine Acogny, he creates choreographic worlds where rhythm, voice and movement become forms of relation. Since relocating to Seoul in 2012, he has developed works through his company Koulekan that explore dance as collective memory, resistance and hospitality. Grounded in community practice and social engagement, his choreography moves across borders of tradition and contemporaneity, inviting dance to be experienced as a living language of encounter.
